CBE has been upgrading existing bag packaging machinery with digital scale conversions / electronic scale upgrades for over 15 years. We have upgraded open mouth and valve bag fillers, bulk bag fillers, box fillers & drum fillers manufactured by Black Diamond, Bemis, Chantland®, Durant, HL Stoker, Howe Richardson, JEM Int’l, MHE, Packaging Systems International®, St. Regis, Stone Container® and Taylor Products® and others.

Keep in mind that although most of this web page is dedicated to valve bag packaging machinery, we do many upgrades to all types of filling systems, liquid and dry.

We can provide highly integrated yet simple to use fill controls to improve the operation and accuracy of your existing packaging machinery. Most semi-automated bag and box fillers regardless of their age use similar product conveyance systems to deliver the product into the bag. Even on the most state of the art bag fillers the feeder choices are: air (pneumatically driven), auger, impeller, belt, gravity or vibratory pan fed. If the existing delivery system is still functioning, this upgrade kit can provide the customer with essentially a new scale and control system at far less than the cost of a completely new filling machine.

CBE is not a “scale” company in the traditional sense. A scale company will typically install an “off the shelf” non-specialized weight indicator on a filler while hanging a load cell from the existing mechanical weighing scale. This approach is not integrated and has little benefit other than providing a general indication of what the bag weight is. It typically does not improve weight accuracy or performance and does not eliminate the moving parts of the mechanical weighing scale.

Electronic scale upgrades can be completed either in the field at your facility or at our Taylor, TX at your preference. In either case, we can have field service technicians available upon the completion of the upgrade to assist you in start-up at your facility.

CBE offers several choices in advanced microprocessor filler controls of varying capability and level of sophistication that are specifically designed to operate bulk bag, open mouth and valve bag fillers.

Even though you may believe the cost of your product verses the cost of upgrading your machinery doesn't justify the upgrade, you will be quite surprised at just how quickly you can recover the cost and how much of upgrading to digital scale weighing can to overall production and bag weight accuracy.
